"Trust in the Lord with all your heart & lean not on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your path straight."
The Sharp Story

Although this story is probably new to you, it is has been in the making for more than 30 years. It involves a husband & wife, 35 children and a home that is clearly love-worn ... a home that is calling for an Extreme Makeover.

Over the course of more than three decades Steve and Jan Sharp have dedicated their lives, their hearts and their home to their three biological children, their 30 foster children and two adopted children.

That much family activity in one house has earned the home at 55 Pleasant Avenue Tonka Bay the title the "Velveteen Rabbit" ... worn down to the threads, literally, with so much love. The floors are plywood, the little bit of carpet that has been given as hand-me-downs from other's homes is simply laid as patchwork on the floor, the laminate counters are chipped down to the splintered particle board, the cabinets & fixtures are beyond repair and even the huge tree that is flourishing in their front yard is splitting at the seams from all the years of little ones climbing through its limbs.

Throughout these 30 plus years the Sharps invested their money not in their house, but instead in the essential needs of their children, some of whom have grown up and begun their own lives of giving ... continuing to Pay it Forward. A floor’s a floor and will continue to wear through, but a child growing up to reach out to others who will reach out to others, and so on, and so on ... is indeed the ultimate investment, paying infinite dividends.

Whether you believe in God, karma, the power of the human spirit, or all of the above, you will be inspired by this story which is unfolding as a result of The Sharp’s original gift of unselfish love.

Welcome to the Extreme Makeover of Tonka Bay.
